What it is

Leave requests captured in one table, announced to the team with a proper mention, summarised every Monday, and readable by the system that assigns work.

You need this if your leave lives in a chat thread, because someone gets assigned work for the week they're away about once a month.

The cost lands on a client deadline rather than on the calendar.

If you already track leave in a form, connecting that table to assignment and cover is what turns it from a record into a control.

The actual build

Leave Management Systems — the as-built system.

What it does for you

01

Nobody gets assigned work for a week they're away

because the assignment system can actually see the leave.

02

The team knows who's off without asking

which removes the standing Monday "where is everyone" exchange.

03

Cover gets planned in advance rather than discovered on the day

so someone's holiday stops being a client-facing event.

I'm like, hey, can y'all please build a time off leave request form that comes through me and sends a notification. And well, if this person is gone and the main person that does this has 28 tasks to do today, how can we see that? So somebody can come in and pick up these tasks.

Built on request: Built while the business scaled 2 → ~40 staff, on track to 10× revenue. Also live at School of Bots as an OOO notification plus weekly summary
